Windsurfing

Windsurfing is an outdoor sport that takes advantage of wind to propel a board and sail across the surface of a body of water. Windsurfing is a combination between sailing and surfing and each rig is traditionally set up for only one person. The balance required to windsurf closely resembles snowboarding, skateboarding, and wakeboarding. With this increase in windsurfing popularity, there has been a number of technological advancements used n creating the boards and the sails. There are several different styles of windsurfing, from longer board cruising styles to shorter, more powerful freestyle boards.
Most windsurfing locations take place in coastal regions or open water with relatively windy conditions (at least 10 mph). Tropical climates tend to make for a more hospitable learning and exploring environments. The warm water, and preferably shallow waters, provide a nice cushion and a more comfortable and simple learning environment.
Because some of the best windsurfing locations are usually located on coast lines, they can be very close to good snorkeling, scuba, and other land adventures. Windsurfing can also provide a great way to explore more secluded coastlines and locations that require travel over water. Before heading out on your windsurfing adventure, make sure to check if there are any hidden coves, beaches, caves, or coastal waterfalls that are within windsurfing distance. It can be a great way to explore your location from a new perspective.
