Water Skiing/Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding and water skiing take advantage of bodies of water around the globe. Both wakeboarding and waterskiing take advantage of relatively smooth water surfaces, lakes, deltas and rivers. Open Ocean is usually not the best place to wakeboard or water ski as rough water makes for a less enjoyable ride.

Wakeboarding - Wakeboarding uses edging techniques to carve through the water. It allows the rider to harness power going into and over the boat wake to perform jumps and aerial tricks. Wakeboarding has become increasingly popular and increasingly competitive as wake boarders continue to push the limits. The wakeboarding community has become similar to the snowboarding community, in that it fosters a younger, more extreme crowd than water skiers.

Water Skiing - Water skiing has been around much longer than wake boarding, since the mid 1900's, and the fundamentals are not so different from wake boarding. Trick waterskiing has more recently become popular to challenge the younger and more adventurous crowd. Shorter, double sided skis allow water skiers to perform more acrobatic and challenging tricks. Slalom skiing, racing, and jumping have also been gaining popularity.

Both wakeboarding and water skiing take place behind a boat and are usually performed between 18 - 24 MPH. They are both a great way to adventure into the outdoors by means of waterways and larger bodies of water. Make sure you do your research on the best locations as some locations can get over populated which can increase the risk of injury or accident.
