Bouldering

Bouldering is a unique style of rock climbing that that allows climbers to climb without a rope or harness. Bouldering is usually practiced on large boulders, smaller climbs, or manmade boulders. The basic premise of bouldering entails placing more technical and challenging routes closer together to create challenging and highly precise routes. Bouldering routes are typically not more than 5 meters off the ground and bouldering pads are used below the climbing area to help ensure falls do not result in injury. Bouldering adventures are typically in areas with other types of climbing, hiking, and trail adventures. While bouldering really is a style of climbing, it has transitioned in a lot of ways to become an independent style and sport as compared to its climbing counterpart. Because the routes are shorter and more technical, it allows for easier day trips and combinations of activities to make up the adventure. Spend a day hiking to a great bouldering destination, then after a few hours see what other adventures await nearby.
