Beaches
Beaches are some of the most beautiful and awe inspiring locations around the globe. From a scientific perspective, beaches are simply deposition landforms created by the constant waves and currents moving loose sediment to where sea meets land. Because most of the sediment is created by the erosion of the surrounding areas, including both land and the coral reefs below the water surface, beaches are entirely unique no matter where you go. Depending on how the waved hit the shoreline, there can be rocky beaches, sandy beaches, or cliff like beaches. All types of beaches offer a unique experience and can be a great spot to start a number of adventures. Surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, scuba diving, and snorkeling, are just a few of the common activities that occur at beaches around the world.
Beaches also serve as a highly diverse habitat for plant and animal life. Beaches usually offer somewhat harsh conditions so most life has adapted to the unforgiving environment. While there is plenty of life to see while above the water, crabs, birds, insects, and plant life, the real adventure lies off the shore below the surface. Snorkeling and scuba diving allow adventurers to experience the world of life within the ocean itself.
