The Wetlands Trail is an easy, fine gravel pathway with some unstable areas on floating walkways. It showcases a riparian-type wetland that is driven by the rise and fall of the Yampa River. The trail is constructed on top of the wetlands via a 1/3 mile system of boardwalks, which boasts two waterfowl viewing blinds, two fishing areas accessible to the physically challenged and interpretive signs for guidance. The riparian wetlands provide wildlife with rich food and habitat resources providing the park with its highest concentration of wildlife.
The trail is on the western end of the reservoir at the confluence of the Yampa River and Stagecoach Reservoir with access from the parking lot at the junction of Routt County Roads 14 and 16.
