About Hunting, Lake Meredith National Recreation Area :

Within the boundaries of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area the following dates and bag limits apply for the 2008-2009 hunting season. The dates have been set with consultation from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Biologists to increase populations and enhance habitat.

WHITE-TAILED DEER:

Archery Season: September 27-October 31, 2008            Bag Limit: 3 deer, 1 buck and 2 antlerless

General Season: November 22-December 7, 2008 Bag Limit: 1 buck, both seasons combined

*Special Youth Season: October 25-26, January 17-18, 2009 (1 buck only)

MULE DEER:

Archery Season: September 27-October 31, 2008  Bag Limit: 1 buck

General Season: November 22-December 7, 2008 Bag Limit: 1 buck, both seasons combined

DOVE: September 1 - October 30, 2008  Daily Bag Limit: 15 mourning, white-winged, and white-tipped (white-fronted) doves in the aggregate, including no more than 2 white-tipped doves per day. Possession Limit: 30 in the aggregate, including no more than 4 white-tipped doves in possession.

TEAL: September 13-September 28, 2008  Bag Limit: 4 in the aggregate P

About Hunting, Lake Meredith National Recreation Area :
Lake Meredith National Recreation Area is a United States National Recreation Area located about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Amarillo, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle. The main attraction of the recreation area is 10,000-acre (40 km2) Lake Meredith, an artificial reservoir created by Sanford Dam on the Canadian River. Activities at Lake Meredith include boating, fishing, swimming, camping, hiking, and hunting. Five boat launch ramps and one marina provide access to the lake. Park Headquarters are located in Fritch, Texas. Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument is located adjacent to Lake Meredith National Recreation Area.
